The Release Calendar in Phyn serves as your personalized mission control for tracking upcoming episodes, season premieres, and new cinematic releases for the shows you follow most closely. By moving away from a static library view, the calendar provides a dynamic, high-level overview of your media schedule, ensuring you are always informed about what is dropping next in your entertainment universe.
How it Works: The Trakt Integration 🔗
Unlike the standard library views in Phyn that pull data directly from your Jellyfin server, the Release Calendar is powered exclusively through a deep integration with your Trakt.tv account. This means the calendar doesn't just look at what you already have stored locally; it looks forward at the global broadcast schedule for the content you care about.
To populate your calendar and start tracking, you must link your account following these steps:
Create an Account: Visit Trakt.tv and sign up for a free account if you don't already have one. This account acts as the master database for your viewing habits.
Curate Your Watchlist: Use the Trakt website or mobile app to search for shows and add them to your Watchlist or Collection. These are the specific titles Phyn will monitor for upcoming air dates.
Link to Phyn: Within the Phyn app, navigate to Settings > Integrations and select the Connect Trakt option. You will be prompted to authorize Phyn to access your Trakt data.
Once successfully linked, Phyn performs an initial sync to pull your tracked shows and immediately begins plotting their upcoming air dates across your personal calendar view. 🔄

The Release Calendar is integrated directly into the core navigation of the Phyn interface for quick access:
Side Drawer Menu: Simply swipe from the left or tap the menu icon to open the side navigation drawer and select Calendar. This provides the full-screen monthly experience.
Homescreen "Coming Soon" Row: For a glanceable update, the "Coming Soon" row on your main dashboard offers a snapshot of what is airing today and tomorrow, acting as a quick-reference guide for your immediate viewing plans.

The calendar offers a clean, intuitive monthly layout that helps you visualize your viewing month at a glance. It distinguishes between past airings and upcoming releases, highlighting exactly what is premiering today, tomorrow, and through the end of the month. This ensures you can plan your binge-watching sessions around the actual broadcast schedule of your favorite series.
Personalized Watchlist Syncing
The calendar is entirely reflective of your personal tastes. If a highly anticipated new show is missing from your Phyn calendar, you don't need to change any settings in the app, simply add that show to your Watchlist on Trakt. Phyn will detect this change during its next background sync and update your schedule to include the new premiere dates automatically. ✨
External Notification Management 🔔
It is important to note that the Release Calendar is a visual scheduling tool and does not generate automated alerts on its own. To ensure you never miss a moment, you must configure your Notifications separately. By visiting the Settings menu, you can toggle specific alerts that will notify you the moment a tracked episode becomes available and ready to stream on your server.
Troubleshooting
"The calendar is empty or out of date"
Verify Trakt Connection: Double-check that your account is still successfully authenticated under Settings > Integrations. Sometimes re-authorizing the link can resolve syncing stalls.
Audit Your Watchlist: The calendar only shows shows you have actively "Watchlisted" or added to your "Collection" on Trakt. Verify these titles are present on the Trakt website first. 🧐
Sync Latency: Depending on your network, it may take a few moments for new Trakt additions to appear in Phyn. Try closing and restarting the app to force a fresh data pull.
"I see the show on the calendar, but can't play it"
The Release Calendar tracks the global airing date (when the episode broadcasts on its original network). If a show appears on your calendar but the "Play" button is unavailable, it simply means the content has aired but the file has not yet been added to your personal Jellyfin server. The calendar acts as your schedule, while your library handles the actual files.
